SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS

Members enjoy community through a variety of Special Interest Groups. Below is a list of monthly groups for all Southlake Newcomers Club members. To attend, members must register through the website or member app. Walk-ins will not be accommodated.

ART & LEISURE

Art Inspired: 4th Friday at 10:00am for some creative art time. Bring your supplies and come work on whatever your art project is of the day. Be inspired by your fellow artists and just enjoy a morning of creativity and art therapy with friends. Leaders - Jana Fielder & Shelley Bergbower.

Literary Ladies: 3rd Wednesday at 10:00am for lively discussion and opinions of a pre-selected book. Leader - Jean Keenan.

Movie Madness: 1st Tuesday for a movie and lunch at a restaurant. Leader -  Bonnie Dietze.

Out & About: Get out and explore a variety of sites and activities throughout the DFW Metroplex. Outings vary by time and date and will include lunch at a restaurant. Leader - Susan Schleppegrell.

Stitchin' Time: 4th Wednesday from 10:00am - 12:00pm. Bring your favorite craft (sewing, crocheting, knitting, quilting, cross stitch, felt work and more). No skills necessary to participate. Leader - Nancy Harding.

FITNESS

All Weather Hikers: Hikers who want the challenge of moderate to difficult hikes most Saturdays. Some flatter, cement trail hikes are offered but taken at a fast pace and increased miles. If you’re ready for a serious workout, you’re welcome to join in on the fun. Leader - Susan Schleppegrell. 

The Pickles: Get your paddle ready and join in on the fun on the 4th Monday. Exact times vary. Most players are at the beginner-intermediate level. The leader is not a teacher and lessons are highly encouraged before playing. Courts are separated by skill. Leader - Jennifer Shafer.

Walk & Talk: Join Fridays each week at 9:00am to enjoy conversation and walk along a paved path at Bear Creek Park in Keller. Leader - Kathy Meanor.

FOOD and BEVERAGE

Coffee Talk: Every Saturday at 9:00am at Central Market for coffee and/or breakfast. Get to know some lovely ladies over coffee. Leader - Deb Dreyfus. 

Epicurious: 2nd Monday at 12:00pm. Hostess selects theme for lunch. Make a dish for the theme and bring it to the hostess home along with the recipe.  Leader - Connie Losada.

Happy Hour: Join the fun at 4:00pm on 2nd Thursday and 4th Wednesday. Individuals purchase their own drinks and appetizers. Locations vary. Leader - Debbie Howe.

Out to Lunch: 4th Thursday at a different local area eatery. It's always good food, fun, and friendship. Leader - Sabina Fusco.

Saturday Night Cocktails: 2nd Saturday evening of each month, rotating homes monthly. Come solo, with your spouse, significant other or friend. Bring your beverage of choice and an appetizer or dessert to share. Leader - Vicki Simmons.

Wine Explorers: 3^rd Thursday at 4:00pm for wine tasting and pairing of appetizers to share with friends. Expand your wine knowledge and palette. Location, wine variety and/or theme varies monthly. Leader – Cindy Boone.

GAMES

Bunco Babes: 3rd Wednesday at 7:00pm in a member's home for a fun and social dice game. Please bring $5 to play. Leader - Storie Vernon.  

Game Night: 4th Monday from 7:00 - 9:00pm at various homes. The hostess for the month determines the games to play. Participants bring their drink of choice and light snack to share. Leader - Carol Russo.

Mah Jongg Babes: 1st Monday at 12:30pm at Dana Wilkirson's house. Bring cash to pay the winner of each game. Newbies must have a NMJL card and know how to play prior to signing up for group play. If interested in learning to play,  contact event leader. Leader - Dana Wilkirson.

Mah Jongg Mamas: 2nd Tuesday at 11:30am at Trophy Club. Lunch, snacks, and beverages may be purchased from the menu. Newbies must have a NMJL card and know how to play prior to signing up for group play. If interested in learning to play, contact event leader. Leader - Valerie Shear.

Mexican Train: 1st Thursday at Market Street Cafe from 9:15am - 1:30pm. Break for lunch and purchase something from the Cafe. Bring $5.00 to play. Leaders - Cyndi Mann & Jill Smalling.

More Jongg: 4th Thursday at 6:30pm at Debra Langdon's house. Bring cash to pay the winner of each game. Newbies must have a NMJL card and know how to play prior to signing up for group play. If interested in learning to play, contact event leader. Leader - Debra Langdon.

Nooners Samba (6 Deck Canasta): 3rd Monday at Market Street Cafe. One-time $15 joining fee, $2 each session to cover room fee. Points accumulated over the year. Leader - Diane Roesbery.

Samba Queens (6 Deck Canasta): 1st Wednesday at 6:30pm in a member’s home. Snacks and drinks are supplied by the participants. $5 per player for cash prizes. Leader - Leslie Richard.

Seasoned Samba (6 Deck Canasta): 2nd Thursday at 9:15am at Sunny Street Café in Keller. $5 per player for cash prizes. Leader - Deb Dreyfus.

Samba Sisters (6 Deck Canasta): 4th Tuesday at 11:00pm in a private family residence. Snacks and drinks are supplied by the participants. $5 per player for cash prizes. Leader - Vicki Simmons.

We Don't Dance Samba (6 Deck Canasta): 4th Tuesday at 9:15am for lunch and to play at Sunny Street Café in Keller. Cost is $5 for play. Leader - Barb Siemoneit.
